Born and raised in Bronx, Lavon Collins, professionally known as “L.C.”, developed his love for music at an early age. L.C.’s parents encouraged his natural talents by gifting him with a keyboard on his 12th birthday, which is when the true musician in him started to surface. L.C.’s passion helped him to stay off the streets, unlike many of his peers, and to remain focused in order to make his dreams of becoming a notable hip-hop artist a reality. Through his music, L.C. hopes to influence people in a positive way as his lyrics were written to inspire and encourage others.
Relying on influences ranging from Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS One, 2Pac, and Nas, L.C. began writing, making beats and arranging music in hopes of following in their footsteps. Much of his lyrical content early on reflected his mentor “ALM” who gave him hands-on experience to composing music. L.C. then began recording in his apartment where they produced and duplicated their music. He did local shows, performed at parties from “Sound View” to Bronx Park East and has created a buzz for himself performing in rap showcases throughout NYC.
After opening for such artists as Full Force, Rob Base, Bell Biv DeVoe (BBD), Nina Sky, as well as sharing the stage with his icon, Rakim, L.C has proven that his presence on the stage will be a mainstay for years to come. L.C has also tapped into the modeling realm for T.I.’s “Akoo” clothing line on BET’s Rip The Runway.
L.C achieved great success last year with his 2010 release of his #4 Billboard charting single “Don’t Trip,” which featured R&B sensation, Donell Jones. L.C. is committed to changing the game and taking it to the next level with the March 29, 2011 release of his New Single entitled “BLOCK BOY” and the re-release of his Billboard top ten charting hit, “Don’t Trip.” This double single release displays the different sides of L.C, which is sure to capture the male and female audience alike.
L.C’s next level includes securing a record deal with West Swagg Music Group; a West Coast based Label distributed exclusively by Bungalo/Universal. With the backing of West Swagg’s CEO Lupe Rose, this “Block Boy” is destined to take the “World” by storm!
