The love, the passion, the response I get from an audience completes the combination of when music meets humanity.
–DJ J. Saki
A whirlwind of nostalgic beats filled the arena. The charged energy of the party matched the intensity of the DJ’s crafted finger play. Yes, yes, y’all and you don’t stop. And they didn’t. They danced until the ladies peeled off their stilettos and allowed the trance to captivate their bodies barefoot. Hands filled the air; heads nodded in rhythmic approval to the seamless transitioning on the 1’s and 2’s. Every track interwoven in the DJ’s master spinning seemed to cue the same response out of every mouth: “Oooh that’s my jam.” It rained those jams all night, and yet no one seemed to mind getting drenched.
Since 1988 DJ J. Saki has been taking the DJ game by storm. Regarded as one of Boston’s most recognized and reputable DJ’s, Hurricane Saki began making currents in the Boston area since he was a kid. As a youth, he scratched up the unforgettable playlists that ignited Boston’s hottest block parties. What started off as an innate interest for the Boston youth catapulted to a personal passion and honed area of expertise: J. Saki went on to attend the Massachusetts College of Communications and eventually became a salient feature of the Boston nightclub and college campus party scenes.
His classic Spit from Tha Streets mix CD (hosted by 50 Cent) and his trademarked “Best of the Bean”, a mix CD that showcases and provides transparency and respect to Boston’s indie and upcoming artists, have allowed DJ J. Saki to upgrade drastically. He was eventually taken under the wing of Wu-Tang Clan’s Cappadonna, where he has studied and mastered the essence of true Hip Hop while working with the rap icons. As the resident DJ for Cappadonna, DJ J. Saki traveled the world and has ingeniously created playlists that have been able to captivate audiences in over twenty different countries.
After word of his work with the Wu Tang Clan began to circulate, so did DJ J. Saki’s experiences and affiliations within the entertainment industry. He moved on to perform with major artists such as KRS-ONE, Juvenile of Cash Money, Eight Ball MJG, K-ci and JoJo (of Jodeci), Red Man, the entire Wu-Tang Clan, and etc.
After solidifying his irreplaceable position in the Boston entertainment arena, Saki grew adamant on bringing a stronger sense of urban pride to the city that nurtured his love for D’jaying, J. Saki created “All Night Upscale Urban Apparel and Juice Bar” which added to his strong following of urban art fans and supporters.
J. Saki’s original blend of the soulful melodies of rhythm and blues, hip hop’s street authenticity, and the sonic helium that blows up virtually any club banger, has put the young DJ in a musical league of his own, undeniably and unprecedented.
J. Saki’s experiences and appearances realm from the National Convention Tours with Dick Clark & Debbie Allen to the guest DJ for the Source Magazines “Street Beat Radio Show”. His on air experience also includes; several guest DJ spots on radio station Coolitwa in Switzerland, MTV Europe, and VIVA Europe. J Saki’s unstoppable grind and incomparable talent allowed him to make history, making him the first Boston DJ to ever grace the basement turntables of BET’s classic Hip Hop show “Rap City”.
His great talents have drawn in overwhelming support from the entertainment industry. In his quest to constantly give back to his Boston community, DJ J. Saki is working once again on his project “Best of Tha Bean”.
There is no telling the forecast for DJ. Saki’s potential. Determined to bridge the gap between music and humanity, DJ J. Saki’s refreshingly original blend of Hip Hop mixes will continue to make monumental strides in 2009, all while sustaining the music that beats intensely in his heart and his city on his back.
