Talented, dynamic, forceful, these are just a few words that describe actor/singer/songwriter Keith Robinson. Keith can currently be seen in the indie film 35 and Ticking, a romantic comedy which looks at a group of thirty-something’s trying to figure out life, love and marriage. In the film, Keith plays the lead role of “Phil” a struggling blue collar worker trying to make ends meet for his two kids and a marriage to a wayward wife who wants out of the relationship. The movie also stars Meagan Good, Kevin Hart and Tamala Jones. In addition to 35, Keith recently landed a supporting role in the indie comedy Dysfunctional Friends (release is TBD). In the film Keith plays “Dennis” a young rich mogul who has made his millions in the social networking business am was later killed in a skydiving accident and leaves his fortune to his eleven dysfunctional friends.
When Robinson is not on set, he’s in the recording studio working on his music. His first solo album, Utopia, was released in late 2009. His new single Same Rules featuring Fabolous drops September 2011. Keith is very excited to bring his passionate sound of soulful R&B music to his fans. Keith is currently being pursued by many major music labels in connection with the release of this much anticipated album.
Best known for his role of in Bill Condon’s award winning adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Dreamgirls, in the role of “C.C. White,” the brother of Jennifer Hudson’s character Effie, Keith was able to showcase his musical talents, and was invited to perform with Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, and Anika Noni Rose at the Oscar nominated song from the film, Patience, at the 2007 Academy Awards! The film received two Oscar wins, eight Oscar Nominations, SAG-nomination for best ensemble and won the Golden Globe for Best Picture. Keith can also be found on three songs on the film’s soundtrack Patience, alongside Eddie Murphy and Anika Noni Rose as well as his solo in the song Family. The movie also starred Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover, and Anika Noni Rose.
Kentucky-born Robinson was first introduced to the public in 2004’s hit film Fat Albert. He then found success with regular roles on the NBC drama “American Dreams” and FX’s critically acclaimed Iraq war series, “Over There.” In 2010, Keith had a strong supporting role in the Sony Screen Gems war/romance/drama Dear John. He won a 2006 Camie (Character and Morality in Entertainment) Award for his performance in “The Reading Room,” an original Hallmark movie starring James Earl Jones. His other TV credits include the CBS miniseries “Comanche Moon,” based on Larry McMurtry’s novel, the prequel to “Lonesome Dove,” in which he plays the young Danny Glover character “Deets,” and a series regular role on Fox’s “Canterbury’s Law.” In addition, Keith had a strong supporting role in the new holiday classic film This Christmas for Sony Screen Gems.
